Die cutting is a specialized fabrication process that uses a machine and a custom-shaped tool called a die to mass-produce precise, identical cut-out shapes. Think of it like a heavy-duty cookie cutter, but instead of cookie dough, it cleanly slices through materials like paper, cardstock, plastic, and even sheet.

Through-Cutting: Slices completely through the material and its backing, resulting in standalone custom shapes.

Creasing & Scoring: Creates indentations or partial cuts along stress lines, making materials incredibly easy to fold into boxes or greeting cards.

Kiss Cut vs. Die Cut (Through-Cut)Understanding the difference between these two cuts is essential when designing stickers or labels:

Kiss Cut: Slices only the top layer. The final product is a full, intact sheet containing one or multiple stickers that peel off easily. This is perfect for complex sticker sheets, small labels, or delicate shapes that need the backing paper for protection during handling.

Die Cut / Through-Cut: Slices through both the top material and the backing paper. The final product consists of individual, loose stickers that are cut exactly to the shape of the artwork.
